A new tool for data consultation
The National Portal on Wildlife Hazard for Aviation represents the digital evolution of the BSCI information system, offering airport operators, sector stakeholders and the interested public a modern, accessible tool for consulting wildlife strike data in Italy.
National Portal on Wildlife Hazard for Aviation
This information platform is dedicated to the management of wildlife hazard in the aeronautical context and to the prevention of wildlife strikes on aircraft.
What the Portal offers
Through the Portal it is possible to access:
Interactive risk maps: geographical visualisation of wildlife strike data, with the ability to filter by aerodrome, time period and species involved.
Species information: descriptive fact sheets on the principal species involved in strikes, with information on ecology, behaviour, seasonality and specific management measures.
Attractants and mitigation measures: a catalogue of the most common wildlife attractants and environmental management and active dispersal techniques.
Data by aerodrome: risk profile for each Italian aerodrome, with historical series, BRI indices, predominant species and event seasonality.
The Portal is a working tool for sector operators, as well as a transparency initiative for the public, in line with ENAC’s commitment to promoting a culture of aviation safety.
